In continuing the “Your Spine” series, we move now to the lowest 2 vertebrae in your Thoracic spine. They are called T11 and T12. Your lowest 2 ribs are attached to these vertebrae. The areas of the body and functions of the body controlled by the nerves exiting these vertebrae control: Kidneys, Ureters, Small Intestines, Colon, Uterus, Lymph Circulation, and the Buttocks. Some common symptomatic signs of T11 or T12 subluxations (misalignments) are things like blood sugar problems, kidney conditions, gas pains, chronic tiredness, constipation, diarrhea, lower rib pain or sciatica. Now, we all know there are a plethora of different causes for each of these symptoms! An adjustment on T11 or T12 is not a “magical” cure for any one of these things. However, we do know that when we begin to address and correct subluxations in this area, then very commonly we see improvements in so many of these symptoms! Releasing pressure on a nerve or irritation of a nerve always results in better function of whatever area that nerve goes to (or “innervates” if you want to know the correct anatomical term). Understanding the anatomy & physiology of your body is really powerful…the more you know -> the better decisions you can make! Just another great reason to get adjusted!
