Actually the answer is anything but trivial! Do you have a guess? It’s your skin. Your skin is rather amazing, the average adult has 1.5 -2 square meters of skin covering their body. Your skin acts as a barrier to the outside world and harmful pathogens; gives us sensation to feel when something is hot/cold, pressure, vibration, and to detect injury. Our skin regulates our heat, we sweat so that our body cools down, we shiver to warm ourselves up. Skin works as a storage unit and aids in something called synthesis, acts as a storage center for lipids and water, as well as a means of synthesis of vitamin D by action of UV on certain parts of the skin.

The other job of your skin is absorption. Your skin acts as a barrier, yes, and yet absorbs as well. This means that we have to be very mindful of what we put on our skin, what we put next to our skin, what we rub into our skin, etc. One of the highest risks of making your body toxic is what products you’re using on your skin, BECAUSE what you put on your skin is directly absorbed into your BLOODSTREAM.

Just 1 example: Parabens are one of the most common ingredients in make-up, lotions, hair & skin care products. Parabens act as endocrine disrupters…what does that mean, you ask? Your Endocrine System is your hormone system. This has MAJOR implications for your MOOD, SEXUAL FUNCTION, THYROID, STOMACH, INTESTINES, CHILDBIRTH, KIDNEYS, LIVER, PANCREAS, HEART, BONE MARROW, and the way that your body is able to use CALCIUM.

Say WoW!

And Parabens are just ONE of the toxic ingredients in the products that most Americans use on themselves and their children daily.

My recommendation is to start making changes as soon as possible (and even 1 at a time if cost is a concern).  You can even finish the current product you have, but then make a healthier choice the next time you go shopping – or better yet – starting making your own products with safe non-toxic ingredients!
