If you have been around the Bible much, you probably have a specific verse that pops into your mind when you read this title.  Very likely, it’s Romans 8:37…

35 Who shall separate us from the love of Messiah? Could oppression, or anguish, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? 36 Even as it is written,

“For your sake we are killed all day long.  We were accounted as sheep for the slaughter.” Psalm 44:22

37 No, in all these things, we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am persuaded that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor things present, nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height, nor depth, nor any other created thing will be able to separate us from God’s love which is in Messiah Yeshua (Jesus Christ) our Lord.  Romans 8:35-39

That’s an incredibly powerful truth contained in these verses!  And another really great study to add onto this is what Yeshua (Jesus) Himself speaks to John to write to the 7 assemblies in Revelation chapters 2-3.  In all 7 letters to the assemblies, He ends each letter with a specific directive to “overcome” and the blessing that will come if they do. Here’s the question:  If we are followers of Messiah Yeshua (Christ Jesus), what does it mean for us to overcome in our lives today?  In the nation we live in, in 2020, how do we overcome? Are we overcoming our own flesh, the enemy, and the ways of the world we live in?
