A word we hear thrown around a lot is “love.” We love many things in life. Love is good. It’s good to feel it and it’s great to receive it. But, I wonder if we really understand its origin. I mean, who thought it up in the beginning? If you’ve been around here long you know I love the Bible and more importantly, I love the God of the Bible. Listen to these words written in the book of 1st John…
1 John 4:9-12 God showed how much He loved us by sending His one and only Son into the world so that we might have eternal life through Him.
This is real love—not that we loved God, but that He loved us and
sent His Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins. Dear friends,
since God loved us that much, we surely ought to love each other.
No one has ever seen God. But if we love each other, God lives in us,
and His love is brought to full expression in us.
I love where it says that given this truth about how much God loves us, “we surely ought to love each other.” Let those words sink in to your heart and mind today. In light of what God has done, how greatly He has shown His love for us, if we love each other then His love is brought to full expression in us. Show someone some love today. If you lack love for someone, ask God to give it to you. If you lack love for God, meditate on these verses today. Ask Him to show up in your life, He has a way of changing things…
