God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.”

W. Tozer, from the book The Pursuit of God

Do you ever feel like your life is moving way too fast? Too much hurry? Too much worry? Too much responsibility and too hectic of a schedule? One of my favorite quotes is written at the top of this page. It reminds us that when it comes right down to it, if we are living to please God, all the deadlines and schedules and hectic activity we can be tempted to fall into can fade away. And as the very wise pastor A.W. Tozer tells us, we must realize that the all-wise Creator of the Universe never hurries. He does not work against deadlines. Most of us would greatly benefit in our relationships, our work, and our health if we had quieter spirits and more relaxed nerves.   When we place priority on doing only what God asks us to do, as the old hymn says, “the things of earth grow strangely dim in the light of His glory & grace…” I love the preceding line in that hymn: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face.” I fully believe that is how we can really live free from the entanglements of the hectic, busy, and stressed-out living. We must turn to the only One who can save. Jesus is the only One who was willing to lay down His life so that we might be free. He invites us to cast our cares upon Him because He cares for us. He lives to love us and fill our empty tanks with all the energy and power and strength that we could ever need. We lack everything good when we lack in relationship with the only One Who is Good…Turn your eyes upon Jesus today and watch how the things of earth start to grow strangely dim. When lay down our old way of living and get God’s perspective on life, that’s when we can really live. Have an awesome day!!!
