I’ve spent quite a lot of time meditating on this particular segment of Scripture lately. It’s in Paul’s final letter to Timothy, the last one we know of that Paul wrote before his execution. There’s something powerful about last words, isn’t there? In Chapter 2, Paul exhorts Timothy that people get to choose whether they are a vessel of honorable use or dishonorable.
Verse 21 begins with the reminder that *if* anyone cleanses himself from what is dishonorable…this is to recall every reader’s mind to the importance of repentance. Through Yeshua (Jesus), we all have the ability to turn from our sin and be forgiven, to turn from unrighteousness to righteousness, to turn from the ways of the world and the ways of our fleshly desires to God’s ways.
And when we do that?
4 Beautiful Things Happen in our life—
- We are a vessel of HONORABLE use,
- We are set apart as holy,
- We are useful to the Master of the house (Yehovah, the Lord God Almighty),
- We are ready for every good work.
Wow, wow, wow—how wonderful is that? If we say we are Christians, Followers of Messiah, Believers in the One True God…This should be our GOAL!!
Turn from everything dishonorable today, everything that defiles, everything that is displeasing to God, and become a vessel of honorable use. Yeshua is the Savior of all the world, and He’s here to save you and set you free from every sin, every addiction, every hurt, every bit of shame and regret, every abuse, every mistake and every time you’ve fallen short.
All you have to do is turn your heart to Him & ask…
