In Romans 8, Paul also says that the mind set on the flesh will NOT submit itself to this because it is unable to do so, because the mind set on the flesh is at enmity with God.
And depending on which version of the Bible you’re reading, Revelation 22:14-15 explains that those who keep these (i.e. wash their robes) may have the right to the Tree of Life and may enter the gates to the New Jerusalem!
