God never hurries. There are no deadlines against which He must work. Only to know this is to quiet our spirits and relax our nerves.”

A.W. Tozer

Do you ever feel like your life is moving way too fast? Too much hurry? Too much worry? Too much responsibility and WAY too hectic of a schedule?  The quote above reminds us that when it comes right down to it, if we are living to please God, all the deadlines and schedules and hectic activity we can be tempted to fall into must fade away. As A.W. Tozer said, we must realize that the all-wise Creator of the Universe never hurries and He does not work against deadlines. Most of us would greatly benefit in our relationships, our work, and our health if we had quieter spirits and more relaxed nerves.  When we place priority on doing only what God asks us to do, instead of what the world tells us we should do…as the old hymn says, “the things of earth grow strangely dim in the light of His glory & grace…” I love the preceding line in that hymn: “Turn your eyes upon Jesus, look full in His wonderful face.” I fully believe that is how we can really live free from the entanglements of hectic, busy, and stressed-out living. We must turn to the only One who can save. Jesus is the only One who was willing to lay down His life so that we might be free from sin. He invites us to take His burden which is easy and light. We lack every good and perfect thing when we lack in our relationship with the only One Who is Good.  Turn your eyes upon Jesus today and watch how the things of earth can begin to grow strangely dim. When lay down our old way of living and get God’s perspective on life, that’s when we can really live. Have an awesome 4th of July!!!
