Have you ever witnessed a life of someone who is unshaken by the world?

Unshaken by their circumstances?

I’m not meaning someone who is indifferent or careless, I’m referring to the kind of person who really seems to have the peace of God that passes understanding.  You know what I think about those people?  I think they’re doing what Yeshua (Jesus) refers to in Matthew 7:24-29.  Just 6 verses, and our Savior wraps up what I’m describing here, the kind of person whose life is solid, their faith is unshaken by the storms of life.  And He tells us exactly how to get that kind of solid foundation under our feet…it’s freely available for the taking!

How do you get it?

Hear His words and do them.  It’s that simple.  Hear & Do.

The Hebrew word that encompasses that exact action (the hearing/doing) is pronounced “shema.”  It means to listen and respond to what is said…not when you get around to it, but right then.

If you’re a parent, you know all too well the JOY that comes when your child actually hears what you say and then immediately obeys.  Oh the peace that comes upon the home when a child “shemas.” Pardon the Hebrew/English there, but I think you get what I’m trying to say.  And we all know the exact opposite is true as well, don’t we?

Psalm 119:165 says, “Great is the peace of those who love your Torah, and nothing causes them to stumble” and do you know what Torah means?

The loving instructions of a Father.

Our English bibles often translate the word “torah” as “law.”  And that’s fine, if we understood as Westerners what it means.

Laws are good, wouldn’t you agree?  I bet you’re as glad as me when people stop at redlights and refrain from stealing from us.  Here’s my point, both Yeshua in Matthew 7 and King David in Psalm 119 make the point that the life unshaken by the storms that come is one of trust & obedience.

Do you shema (hear & obey) and enjoy the life build upon the Rock…or have you been guilty & suffered the consequences of the opposite?

He’s calling you back today, like a good, good Father who knows what is best for us.  Shema Him 😉

If you’re experiencing that kind of peace, praise God, testify of His faithfulness to someone today — encourage others to trust God and obey what He says!

Matthew 7:24-29

24 “Therefore everyone who hears these words of Mine and does them, [l]may be compared to a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and fell against that house; and yet it did not fall, for it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone hearing these words of Mine and not doing them, may be compared to a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain descended, and the rivers came, and the winds blew and slammed against that house; and it fell—and great was its fall.”

28 [m]Now it happened that when Jesus had finished these words, the crowds were astonished at His teaching; 29 for He was teaching them as one having authority, and not as their scribes.
