alignment |əˈlīnmənt| noun

1 arrangement in a straight line, or in correct or appropriate relative positions

2 a position of agreement or alliance

Alignment is such a key concern when it comes to our bodies.  Correct position of your spinal column is critical to optimal nerve flow and blood flow.  The positioning of the curves in your spinal column being in agreement not only drastically effect your posture but also affect how efficient energy is used in your body.  Proper spinal alignment allows for normal spinal motion.  Normal spinal motion allows for maximum positive brain stimulation (process called proprioception).  Maximum proprioception effects your balance, your coordination, your immunity, your digestion, your lymphatic system, your central and peripheral nervous system, ability to focus, and balance of your fight/flight system and rest/digest system as well.

According to Investopedia.com, a financial news site, if your car is out of alignment, “Improper alignment can reduce fuel efficiency by as much as 10% – about 31 cents per gallon.” Alignment affects efficiency.  It doesn’t matter whether it’s a vehicle, a business, a family, a flock of birds flying, or the human body…being in alignment, being in our appropriate relative position, being in a position of agreement and alliance makes us more effective.  Efficacy and efficiency in our lives depend upon our level of alignment and who/what we are aligned with.  Stay well-aligned, my friends!
