The phrase comes from the very familiar parable that Yeshua (Jesus) taught in Matthew 25:14-30, which we talked about in PART 1. I think one of the biggest challenges in multiplying the gifts that God has given each of us in our generation is the sheer magnitude of distractions that exist! Even if you’re not addicted to your phone or social media, it’s still overwhelming the amount of information coming at us and the number of voices vying for your ear to hear them. If you’re not whole-heartedly tuned-in to what God is saying, it makes it really hard to be the diligent servant who is busy about The Father’s business and multiplying what He’s given to you.
Do you know that Yeshua said the phrase “He who has ears, let him hear…” 15 times in Matthew (11:15, 13:9, 13:43), Mark (4:9, 4:23, 7:16), Luke (8:8, 14:35) and the Book of Revelation (once to each of the 7 assemblies in Rev 2 and 3)!! His point?? If you have ears to hear Him, His truth, His Voice, it will change your urgency of obeying what He says!
If we have ears to hear what God is saying, we must grow increasingly deaf to the sounds of the world, to the sounds of our own flesh, and to the sound of the enemies lies that are all working against what God’s purposes are for us and for what He’s entrusted to us. I fully believe that if we are to hear those words, “Well done, good and faithful servant,” it will be because we had hearts, minds, and ears tuned to hear His voice and purposely shut off all the other noise.
