Dr. Erica & I hear this question often—and here’s the answer…Traumas, Toxins, and Thoughts.  Chiropractic was officially established as a healing profession on September 18, 1895, so we’re coming up on the 130th anniversary!  It’s been said for the length of that time that the root of all dysfunction in the body, including the cause of SUBLUXATION (misalignment) is either:

  1. The occurrence of a trauma; think of physical stressors to our bodies: slips, falls, bad posture, car accidents, one-sided sports, or even sleeping wrong if you’re over 40 IYKYK 😉 Also things like deconditioning, where your muscles are too weak is a real trauma to the body.  There can be scar tissue from old injuries or former surgeries that is causing your body to compensate, too.
  2. The presence of something toxic; think of chemical stressors to our bodies: the standard American diet, processed foods, foods devoid of nutrients, eating animals that are not Biblically clean (Leviticus 11), environmental toxins, drinking water treated with or using fluoride-containing toothpaste, chem trails (seriously, it’s worth looking into it), mold exposure and parasites.
  3. The way you think; so we need to think about what we’re thinking about: remaining for any length of time in a state of stress, worry, fear, doubt, unresolved anger, disappointment, resentment, unforgiveness—and understanding that a thought that goes through your mind has a very, very real effect on your physical body.  You can literally put yourself in fight or flight by a negative thought you choose to think over and over again. There is truly the battlefield of the mind that is worth winning, and it’s possible to overcome all of these

The take-home message for today is that Traumas, Toxins and Thoughts can ALL potentially affect your alignment—and…your digestion, your mental health, your energy level, your sleep, your strength, your longevity and the abundance of life in those years.  Every bit of hard work you do to DEAL with traumas, toxins and thoughts in a healthy, life-giving way is worth the fight.
