Some of you know that my Grandmother (I called her “Gran”) had not been well over the past few months, and Clearview was closed about a month ago so that I could spend 3 precious days with her in New Mexico. We’ll be closed again this week until Thursday so that I can be at her funeral. But, what you may not know is what an impact she had on your life, that’s right, your life…because of the huge influence she had on my life, particularly in my becoming a Chiropractor!  Some of you know the story of my coming from a long line of Chiropractors, and the first Chiropractor in my family was her uncle, who practiced Chiropractic back in the 1940’s! My Grandpa (her husband of 72.5 years) went to Palmer Chiropractic College in the mid-1950’s, where she worked so hard to support him every step of the way. As years went on, she became a life-long ambassador for Chiropractic education and told everyone she knew (and countless people she didn’t know) how wonderful Chiropractic was as a healthcare option. Two of their sons are Chiropractors, 1 daughter-in-law and two granddaughters (one of them is me ;)). Some may have called her outspoken; I call her bold and fearless when it came to advocating for peoples’ freedoms, an undying love for America and a deep love and appreciation for Chiropractic. She had seen countless people get well and stay well over the years at my Grandpa’s practice and certainly witnessed her fair share of what we call Chiropractic miracle cases.  She was utterly convinced that people needed to be properly adjusted in order to be truly healthy.  There is no doubt that hearing those stories is the biggest reason I wanted to follow in my Grandpa’s footsteps. One of the funniest things I ever heard her say was that the reason she’d lived so long and stayed in such good shape for so many years is that she slept with a Chiropractor for most of them.  She had a good sense of humor even until the end, she was 91.  One of our last phone conversations she told me, “Shar, I’m not of this world!”  And she was right, that’s what the Bible tells us…as Believers, our citizenship is in Heaven.  Philippians 3:20-21 says, “20 For our citizenship is in heaven, and from there we eagerly wait for the Savior, the Lord Yeshua the Messiah.21 He will transform this humble body of ours into the likeness of His glorious body, through the power that enables Him even to put all things in subjection to Himself.”  I will miss her so much, but I know her final destination is with Him, and there is nothing better than that.
