Do not be anxious or worried about anything, but in everything [every circumstance and situation] by prayer and petition with thanksgiving, continue to make your [specific] requests known to God. And the peace of God [that peace which reassures the heart, that peace] which transcends all understanding, [that peace which] stands guard over your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus [is yours]. Philippians 4:6-7 (AMP)

Jesus said in Luke 12:25, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?”  In other words, what good does worry ever do us?  You and I have way more control over our thoughts than we typically take responsibility.  Do you realize that even the thoughts we think have a VERY REAL physiological effect in our bodies?  Thoughts create very real chemical & physical changes in the human body.  When Jesus said this He wasn’t being philosophical; He was being literal.  We all know people who have worried themselves to sickness, if not death.  These 2 verses in Philippians give us the answer.  When we find ourselves worried or anxious, no matter what the circumstance or situation – go to God and pray.  Ask Him for help.  Tell Him what is bothering you.  He is near to the broken hearted and crushed in spirit (Psalm 34:18).  When you get to know God by reading the Bible, you begin to understand that He is the all-powerful Holy God and at the very same time He is so kind and so near.  Jesus said in Matthew 11:28, “Come to Me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest.”  Jesus is trustworthy.  He is also the only source of true peace in life (Ephesians 2:14)!
